Captured about sunrise NE of Penistone UK yesterday. This is one of just a few single-frame shots I captured, as most were panos.

Which crop do you prefer, please?

Landscape, although I'd tend towards a tighter vertical crop to make it a bit more 'widescreen'. Nice Golden Hour shot there.

Landscape for sure but you can still trim off some sky and ground, to improve the overall crop. When cropping, look at the area that you intend to crop from and ask yourself if leaving in any of the area that you intend to crop off, will add to the overall information or visual aesthetics of the overall image. If it adds nothing, then it is not needed and can be cut away. If it does nothing to enhance the overall image, it never needs to be included.

An example is sky and foreground. Once you have seen some sky, more sky usually does nothing to improve the image, unless there is some sort of great cloud formation. Foreground, if it is all the same, then you don't need lots of it, just a little bit to introduce the foreground to the image and lead the viewers eye, into the photo.
