When flying my M2Z, video mode exposures look fine. When I switch to photo mode, the screen and photos become greatly overexposed. The camera settings are set on automatic. Changing to M allows good exposures. Question: Why does auto work on video but not on photo? Is there something I am missing?

The first thing to check is your Exposure Compensation setting.
It sounds like you have accidentally set it to over expose a couple of stops beyond what the meter thinks is correct.
There is a line of camera data in the upper right of your screen.
Look for the number under EV
If it's showing a + number like EV +2.0 or +3.0, dial that back to EV0.
