Photo's & Video with Remote buttons vs 'Phone

Hi all, only tried a few flights (7/8) and found I could only start recording/taking pictures with phone soft buttons... if I use photo/or video physical buttons I don't see it start recording on screen and no photo's on the MicroSD card.... yes I read the manual front to back

IT is always connected between R/C and phone via supplied cable - DJI Go 4 latest version, firmware etc. all up to date

This seems strange since you don't even need to have the phone connected. (test without on the ground?)
I always use the controller buttons and it indicates recording on the app.
On occasion I have noted something of a delay before the app indication changes state to recording.

You might try a different cable plugged in bottom USB.
I'd also consider deleting the app and downloading again, however that shouldn't really stop the controller buttons functioning.

When the app is connected it forms an integrated system which might be having an effect on your controller I guess.
