Polarization is always strongest 90 degrees from the sun, and the effect is completely eliminated at 180 degrees from the sun. Polarizers can be very useful because it's one of the few effects that is impossible to add in post processing, but you need the plan your flight path very carefully because any change in your flight angle will change your orientation to the sun and therefore the level of polarization and the look of your footage.
Before you fly, just pick up the drone, point it to where you want to go, and rotate the filter until you see the level of polarization the strongest on your display. If you are 90 degrees to the sun this should be very obvious as you rotate it, and near or at 180 degrees to the sun you will see no effect.
Some people find it helpful to make an "L" shape with your thumb and forefinger, and use that to guide you 90 degrees from the sun in any diection. Depending on where the sun is in the sky, it can be very easy to get good polarization on a lot of angles.[/QUOTE
