There is a setting "Enable Tripod Mode" in DJI Go 4 aircraft section. What is it used for? I seldom use DJI Go 4 mainly use Litchi. I have searched for in-depth user manual for DJI Go 4 with little success. There is lots of general docs but none with explanation of all settings. Forgot to mention I'm flying Mavic Pro

it slows the movement of the drone relative to stick input and makes it easier to fly in restricted places such as indoors if using it in confined spaces turn of return to home so it does not go up if signal is lost or battery gets low

I believe you missed the point of my question. I am not asking about the Icon in the Intelligent Flight Modes on the main screen. I am asking about a settings switch in the settings/aircraft at the bottom of the screen "Enable Tripod Mode". I understand what Tripod mode does. Just asking about the setting switch in settings.

sorry my mistake is it a mavic 2 i dont have one of those
No It is the Mavic Pro and the DJI Go 4 is V4.3.25; go to settings then the aircraft; go to bottom there is a setting entitled "Enable Tripod Mode". What is that setting for. There is also on the main display of the app the icon for Intelligent Flight Modes and when touched you get the intelligent flight modes to chose from. one of them is Tripod mode. Why is there a setting and a selection?

So, here's the answer. I did not have the Mavic Pro connected to the DJI Go 4 app. Even though I had set the drone type, the app needs the drone to be connected. After I connected the Mavic the Enable Tripod Mode setting in the main setting page was not there any longer.

Only Android here. Latest DJI Go 4 is 4.3.25

So does Android. I use both, an actually like android better, because my Samsung 10 plus is awesome to use with Mavic 2 Pro. Never have issues. I use iPad some, but never have trouble with either one. I don't understand why these people have trou le with Android, I never do. Smart Controller is Android too.
I prefere IOS Apple, It’s made for dummies, it just works![emoji23]

I never have a problem using The GO 4 app using my iPad or iPhone. Never, I had android few years back and it was turrible!

Confirmation bias is the tendency to search for, interpret, favor, and recall information in a way that affirms one's prior beliefs or hypotheses.

I have a Windows, 9mm, Tastes Great, Mary Ann, and Android bias.

I think I found bugs and less stability with Android 4.3.25. "GPS Weak" if resetting HP to RC position, despite diagnostics showing excellent GPS, and frequent screen blanking and app crashes.
Hopefully .28 will fix that when it comes out.

The "Enable Tripod Mode" settings switch, er, enables Tripod Mode. Without turning it on, Tripod Mode doesn't function.

The first time you make a Liftoff, after having the drone turned off, it starts in P-Mode, so you have to use the physical button on RC to set it in T-Mode. Land and make a new Liftoff without turning off the drone, then it stays in T-Mode.

The purpose of that is in case the switch was flipped in travel and you don't think of it. It's a good safety feature, and the app does tell you that the mode is P despite the switch position.

I bet the tripod mode in the app is for models that don't have the switch.

Yes, that is one of the problems with DJI GO 4, is what you see on the screen, applicable to the RC you have and the drone you fly, and what is in the manual.
