I have recently been asked by someone in the education department to help with a project.
He is working with a young man that is a complete quadriplegic. He has a drone that he has setup and controls with a control mechanism behind his head. The young bloke is big into photography and is able to use editing software with eye tracking controls.
We are looking at how we may be able to get a good quality drone flying that he may be able to control with a similar eye tracking type system.
Many parts to this project and im also meeting with CASA about VLOS and if we can get a permanent EVLOS applied for him for commercial flying.
Im looking at some coding solutions, but also thinking/wondering if we can get a dji drone controlled with eye tracking via ipad. There is ipad tracking software, and perhaps this can overlay something like litchi.
At this stage im still in brain storming mode, and wonder if anyone has seen, heard of, or have any ides that may work with a dji drone.

i would like to echo @lensimages post ,good luck with the project ,it will allow this young person the chance to enjoy the added scope that a camera on a drone will give him

I am not sure what your project entails, but as far as flight control software goes I would suggest looking into Dronelink in addition to Litchi. Dronelink is much more customizable and if the education department is willing to look beyond the basic Dronelink packages, there are basically unlimited customizations that can be done. Also, you may want to contact them directly as they may be able to work directly with the education department to make customizations needed to make Dronelink missions work for this individual. For example, Dronelink has On The Fly Functions (OTF) where a few simple questions are asked and the user answers those questions, then the drone flies the mission. Maybe, some custom Functions can be created for this individual.

I am a retired teacher/Special Education Resource Teacher and before I retired the role I had was supporting elementary students in their classrooms who had Assistive Technology. I often directly contacted (called or emailed) the companies who created the Assistive Technology (software and hardware) and talked directly to them about customized solutions that could be applied to specific student needs and very often they were willing to help.
