Bought and Tested the DJI RC Plus on Ebay that claims to work with the Mavic series of Drones. Guess What? IT DOES WORK! I'll tell you why.

I have download the dji fly app per apk from dji. com. The Version is V1.16.4

Where did you find the fly app apk?

Could you outline your Install steps if you would be so gracious

The fly app version the controller just came with still has geo fencing.

I just bought and received one of these eBay RC plus controllers

I am leery as to what can be updated and updates to avoid as it may brick, this special modified RC Pro firmware

I see there is a small nag message to update the firmware on the controller. I am assuming this would be the firmware update, which would be referred to as the kiss of death??
Go into the "Profile" settings on the controller. Slide the slider to the left where it says "Automatically Check For Updates" That applies only to the controller firmware. Yes, do an update for that and you've got a 600$ brick.

can someone verify that it is OK to update the DJI fly app from within the fly app updating method?
Yes, did that last week without a hitch
I see a new DJI fly app release date March 31, 2025. Are any of you guys running that version with the eBay modded RC plus.

Probably can, but I hardly ever update that anyway

I am wondering if I turn off the Wi-Fi connection will I still get that nagging prompt to update the firmware? I am fearful one day I may hit install out of habit
Follow the instructions above, you won't get popups anymore
Any thoughts or recommendations on this topic?

So, I've had this RC Plus for better than a month now. People getting upset about non-working buttons don't understand. They don't correspond to buttons available to the RC Pro controller anyways. So, I didn't lose anything as far as use goes. Installing a different firmware? No difference when it accomplishes exactly what I wanted it to do. Run a better overall controller when considering the 1200 nit display, the larger, higher resolution display? Yes. Extra battery for longer use between charges? There's no downside to using one of these that I can see.

you are completely right! I don't need the Button, the Controller is really Top! Better as the original Controlller from the Mavic 3 Pro, as the Pro Controller, bigger better Display faster , 1 word PERFECT!

For those that have recently purchased one of these controllers for your Mavic 3, This might be a dumb question: you say the R1, R2, R3, C3 buttons don’t work, but what about the L1, L2, L3 and other scroll wheel?

I feel like the answer is that it doesn’t work as this controller is essentially a RC pro controller, but I just wanted to confirm.

I ordered one, but mainly because I heard it works with air 2s and DroneLink and it’s got a bigger screen and better battery life. It’s essentially an RC Pro with a lower price tag and a bigger body.

I feel your joy! So glad it's working for you. I have no idea why this controller isn't more popular. I get the same joy every time I use it. Literally every time. It massively improves my Mavic 3 Pro.
