1200 is/maybe was universal. It was used extensively in the Arabian Gulf and points in between. That is in mode 3, civilians don' have the military version, mode 4. But I have been out of that game for 20 years.

Ive never heard 1200 used outside the US/US influence area.
Its always "squawk 7000. Bye" elsewhere.
