Questions on Mavic Zoom

Greetings
My questions: Can you take stills while in video mode?
While in video and zoom in for max zoom, I go to take still and zoom jumps back to 48mm?
Can these issues be worked around, or just a issue to live with?

It does the same thing on the original MP. Whenever I change camera modes the zoom factor is reset.

That's probably because 4x zoom is digital so it can't use the entire sensor to do it. If you are taking a still at max resolution, there's nothing left to crop out for the zoom.
It might work with a lower resolution still.
