What do you use? I tried Therapee, but it buggered my confuser up.... someone has suggested darkspace (?) darktable (?) I need something that is easy and self explanatory really. I have got in such a muddle with all this computer side of the drone. The flying is the easy bit.

I use Lightroom and Photoshop but you know you might just be better off shooting jpeg and not editing them. RAW is only better if you edit them and are good at editing. If you aren’t good at editing then just sticking with the original jpeg couldn’t be easier.

I shot one photo today with RAW & JPEG. I'll just run right out and buy Lightroom! Yea, I wish. I have seen some amazing photos right here that were post processed after being shot in RAW. BTW, is RAW an acronym or what?

Adobe Photography CC is like $10 per month and comes with cloud storage. You get Lightroom CC, Lightroom Classic CC, Photoshop CC, Bridge CC a free portfolio website and other little goodies. Pretty reasonable and always get to upgrade to the latest version when it comes out.

RAW isn’t an acronym. It’s means uncooked or unprocessed. The ingredients are there but needs work before being a usable photo

I dont have the Air but I have downloaded the sample RAW and JPEG photos of Air 2 from here and tried some editing : DJI Mavic Air 2 sample gallery.

I could not see much difference between RAW and JPEG when it comes to the room for editing. I believe the difference for Air may be even smaller if not non-existent. If that's true, there is no point to shoot RAW. Just pay attention to the lightning conditions when shooting. I can guarantee that you will be able to get great JPG pictures.

I know nothing about this cloud thing. I don't know how to work computer stuff well enough for all that. Plus, I would rather buy a program and keep it, than have a rented one that keeps changing. This is why I am still on a computer from 2009, with an editing program from the same era, it came with the D3 and it works on the D4s perfectly.... it is this drone camera that is just being awkward and requiring a new program to be able to see the pictures. I have a Nikon compact (P7800) and shoot RAW on that, the difference between the RAW and straight jpeg is very noticeable so I would think the same applies to the little compact chip in the drone.

The “RAW” images from the MA are not true unprocessed raw images, but have been pre-processed into TIFFs. They loose significant adjustment flexibility when this is done. They still do have all the resolution and color information from the original, unlike the JPEGs that discard information to achieve smaller file sizes.

You started in the photoshop CS4 era. I started with CS2. The RAW file is .DNG, a generic format that can be read by many applications. Your existing applications should be able to handle them.

If NXD can read them, that would be unbelievable.

I actually remember Photoshop first launching. It was never a photographer's program, it was a designer's program, which is why I have never seen it and have never used it. I started my professional photography in 1981, using 4x5 Arca Swiss, Mamiya RB67 and later the RZ, Nikon FM, FM2, FE2, FA, F3, F4s, F5, then eventually moved to the digital film when the D2X came out, then D3 and now D4s, which will do everything I need for ever!
