I realise nobody who will reply here actually knows for sure (!), but based on past experience of DJI model upgrades, can anyone hazard a shrewd guess on whether it's likely that the new Mavic 4 Pro will work with my existing RC Pro controller? I realise they probably want to sell the bundle, with a new controller; but I certainly can't afford to upgrade with a bundle any time soon. If I only have to get the drone + batteries, it might happen a little sooner. Anyone? The existing controller is excellent, so I'd be happy to use it with an upgraded drone.

Ima gonna step out here and guess no, it won't be compatible

0 Zero the RC pro is not compatable with the new Occusync.

The RC Pro is O3 and O3+. The Mavic 4 will be O4 at a minimum like the Air 3 and 3S. DJI could also come up with O4+ for all we know. In the past, DJI has updated controller firmware to accommodate later Ocusync versions but they have not done that to make the RC Pro compatible with the Air 3 or 3S so it is highly unlikely they will update it for the Mavic 4 and whatever version of Ocusync it will have. All of this is guesswork based on their past behavior so we'll just have to wait and see.

I am guessing a new PRO remote announcement with the Mavic 4 PRO..Hopefully.

Not compatible as there is a RC Pro2 with foldable screen coming out with the Mavic 4 Pro.
Thanks - I guess the fact they are bringing out an RC Pro 2 doesn't absolutely guarantee that the RC Pro isn't compatible (it just means they are bringing out a new model, which makes it likely they will make it incompatible to drive sales). However, all the points made above point closely to that being the case. Bummer!

The main reason it won't work is because the Mavic 3 runs on the O3 transmission and the Mavic 4 runs on the O4 transmission so not compatible.

With my use of the Mavic 3 Pro, I appreciate the RC Pro's bigger/brighter screen and the stronger signal; I am assuming one will need the RC Pro 2 to get the same relative advantages. Besides, I had hoped to buy the new drone without any controller at all :)

Of course they wouldn't make controllers or batteries compatible because then you wouldn't have to buy new ones. But it does have longer range so they changed the occusync.

The RC2 is a great controller with most of the features the RC Pro offered over the original RC.

Antenna, transmission power, screen size/resolution/fps are all identical between the RC2 and RC Pro.

While the Pro does have a slightly brighter screen, 300nits is hardly a deal breaker in terms of brightness difference. Shielding the screen will have a much bigger effect than 300nits extra brightness and I've had no issues flying the Air 3 in bright noon sunlight (probably the most boring and uninteresting time of day to fly a drone).

The rumoured bigger sensor in the Mavic 4 alone would by far outweigh any controller worries. Having to use an RC2 over my old RC Pro controller would not be the limiting factor for me purchasing the new drone.
