Sorry I can't help with the FCC hack. But you should be able to change the language to Italian. Pull down twice from the top of the screen and select the gear icon at the top right (settings).
In settings scroll down to System/Languages and Input/Languages then touch Add a language and select Italiano. It might take a few seconds to load the language set so be patient.
