RC Pro Firmware V03.01.0900

My Air 2s with FW version V02.04.2040 and RC Pro with FW V03.01.0900 work perfect together. If "Aint Broke Don't Fix It"... right ?
I acquired another Air 2s with the same firmware version but I would like to match that to a new RC Pro, but it looks like the newest
FW for the controller is probably going to be V03.01.1200. Anyone know if that new controller FW will connect with the older drone firmware ?
Not looking to spend $1200 to experiment

Will connect but will offer you to upgrade the firmware. I recommend upgrade the firmware always. If you have a crash for a drone failure, DJI can deny the warranty because you do not have an actualized firmware that possibly fix the problem.
