I would certainly appreciate help!

I have recently purchased an Air 2 and am having trouble getting any decent quality with videos and stills. I have attached a photo of a family reunion that breaks my heart it is so washed out. Since I am a real novice with the camera capabilities of this drone, I have everything set up as automatic. I am at 9500 feet so I realize sunlight is different up here. We are also dealing with horrendous smoke which I'm sure affects lighting and appearance of photos.

I will most happily accept criticisms and suggestions of what I should be doing. This was taken the day Vic Moss was down the valley from me in Buena Vista presenting at our local drone club which I did not get to attend or I would really have tried to pick his advice!!

Thanks in advance!

It just looks really over exposed , make sure you getting the Pictures directly from the SD card also so you get the highest resolution and not the Cashe version.

Gear to fly your Air 2 in the Rain.
Wow! I am assuming you did some post work on this photo. With your permission I will save it to give to family. Also, I have been getting the images from my smart controller which I assume are on the SD card. Am I incorrect on this? Again, thanks so much for your reply. I am planning on getting the rain gear for my drone as I want to be able to be in the air when the snow flies.

Yes your more than welcome to use the picture. Do not use the Pictures on the SD card from the Smart Controller use the pictures from the Drone SD card to be sure your getting high resolution pictures.

super!

Look for the EV setting and activate the over exposure indicators and you will be closer. During the day -3 to -6 might be a good place to start, its easier to lighten than to darken since the really bright areas will often lose the data.

I tried my hand at editing your photo. It's difficult to get rid of the over exposed very white areas. But I guess it came out a little better. I used photo shop. It would be easier to edit if the photo was in raw/dng format.family 08062021B.jpg

The shot is obviously overexposed. You should be able to see that on your screen, and adjust the light settings before pushing the shutter button. I did a screen grab and Photoshopped it. Here is the before and after.

Hope this helps. You are welcome to use these as you wish.

Default settings on any camera system will be sh#t and you'll never be able to fix it in post. You can shoot in RAW and learn to use Adobe LR or Camera raw,, but you also took the photo in very contrasty lighting in which highlights were blown out. You can't recover blown highlights, but more latitude with shadows.
Better to move them into the shade and expose properly. Compositionally, the slightly high angle isn't doing enough to make it a uniquely aerial photo. Might as well stand on a chair. Perhaps next time, have them all lay down in the grass in a star, circle or other pattern and take the shot straight down.

I thought I'd take a whack at it too. As I mentioned in a different thread it is easier to restore shadows1629143962852.png
