Recommend locations in Illinois

Anyone here that is from Illinois and know places/parks where you can legally fly drones?

I'm a newbie and was also looking for a place to practice flying my drone.

I would think anywhere outside the Chicago metro area would be fine, excluding any special use or restricted airspace.

I’m visiting a friend in Ottawa right now and saw this law and other information what a Police state this is! Almost every person has a phone with a camera but if it’s able to fly they pass a law that makes it nothing short of a felony to fly if it sees a person on or in there property! I can put a GoPro on a balloon and that’s ok but a drone it’s not?

Hi There,
I live in Rockford, IL and there are quite a few safe parks to fly, just be aware of your surroundings, no State parks, county parks should be cool.
