With perhaps a few exceptions, battery-electric multicopter drones typically can't fly for longer than about 30 minutes. Such is not the case, however, with their hybrid counterparts – one of which recently broke its own endurance record.

I believe the world record for longest UAV flight goes to a high altitude autonomous solar powered aircraft, airborne for 14 days. I've also heard there are UAVs in the works (or possibly already airborne) that have a flight time of 1 year or more.

I would suggest that when it comes to autonomous flight and duration the project LOON run by Google must rank in there. Providing internet to central South America they self regulate and use air currents at different heights to steer a definite low cost solution to SpaceX and there constellation of satellites
