Interestingly as discussed over on this website ( DJI Air 3 Release Date [Rumors & Leaks] | FlyThatDrone ) DJI should have released by now an Air 3 model. They speculate that it might be released in November 2022 later this year. This is clearly after the FAA deadline for manufacturers to begin making drones with RID broadcast/takeoff restriction control capabilities, which actually requires the manufacturer to go through an FAA certification process. With less than three months to go before the deadline it would seem to make sense for DJI to get a brand new model (Air 3) through this certification process first in order to learn how it works before trying to update existing models via firmware/software patches.
