Removing Knobs on remote control and fly with your thumb

Dear Community,
I have been flying the Mavic 3 for many years, and felt by removing the knobs on the remote control and using my thumb directly on the pad of the remote control gave me more control and less jerking.

Now I’ve purchased a Mavic 4 pro, I want to do the same thing.

Does anyone have any feedback? Has anyone flown without the knobs? Do you feel like you’re controlling the drone better?

Would love to hear your feedback

Best
Greg

Just using the stick is cool if it works for you, I had a rough time with it when I tried..I kept making unwanted movements cause my skin would stick or vice versa..If it works for you do it!
Most really good drone kids are "pinchers" now (they grab the stick with two fingers) I cant get used to it at all but I have been a thumb guy my whole life.
On all my other radios I use rubber "Grippys" I love them!! DJI in their mission to change everything RC makes their gimbals smaller so OEM sticks is all you get...Shame really.

Thank you so much for your comment. I got used to taking or unscrewing the knobs, and I just use my thumb because I believe it’s much better. Is that what you mean You also do?

I tried knobs off but I put them back on. I am used to the large grippy tops I get more control from them to bad they dont make them for DJI stuff.

A couple of years ago, I flew the Air2S with 1/4" long screws attached to the sticks. For slow speed flights shooting video, it seemed a bit easier to make smooth control movements. For more dynamic flying, it wasn't as handy. It's a matter of personal preference, so fly it stick-less if you prefer it that way.

I seem to recall on here some time ago, another pilot recommended EXTENDING he knobs by replacing the OEM with some 1" to 1 1/4" machine screws! Their comment was that it gave them better control, so I guess what ever works for you!

That's what I want to do.

Bought the wrong size cap screws though.

I drive mine sans sticks.
