Well I unpacked my replacement Mavic to a nice surprise, it came with a new charger, battery and full set of blades which I didn't return with my original as instructed.. now to see if the bloody thing works

When off, all appears normal. All seems to move freely. When i turn it on it tries to initialize, clunks around and stops facing downward. Gimbal will not respond at all.

Is it pointing at 7 O'clock? If so, try gently rotating the lens counterclockwise right when it stops and see if it then continues its initialization.

Yes it's at about 7 O'clock. I tried helping it along with no luck. Dji has sent me a 2 day air label and promised to expedite. I have my fingers crossed.

Did you try "rotating" the lens? Don't bump the whole camera left or right, but actually try to rotate the face of the lens counterclockwise just a bit. I'll be surprised if that doesn't work for you.
