btw - always took my watches to the local watch repair place for battery replacements, until one day, they were so busy, I ended up being there for an hour in the line up. After that, bought a kit off Amazon, and it has everything you need to remove ANY backing from any watch. Its actually a really useful kit.

Or... you could always go old-school and buy a proper clockwork watch. Funniest thing I've ever seen was a car boot sheister selling a 'genuine antique' pocket watch to a gull... a watch with the word "quartz" printed on the face.

Somewhere in the neighborhood of 40+ years ago, I took a Seiko into Sears to have a battery replaced. It was around 5 minutes to 1 in the afternoon. The young lady said she could replace the battery and proceeded to do just that. By the time she got the case back off, battery replaced, and case back replaced it was after one o'clock. She was going to set the time for me but then got a real puzzled look on her face. I started to chuckle and said: "Never seen 13 o'clock before?" She said: "No!" I explained to her the watch told military time, which was based on a 24-hour clock, not two 12-hour units. She said thank God, because she thought she had messed something up.
