What do you guys do to pass the time? I live in Sweden and it´s cold and dark when I get back from work. I wait until the weekends and then the rain/snow starts so I can´t fly and will have to wait for the next weekend and hope for better weather...

I bought my MP about a month ago and have only been able to fly 3 times. I´m thinking of flying in the dark at night but due to lack of experience this scares me a bit..

How hard is it to fly in the dark? If I get out there in the night, what is the fun/cool stuff to shoot?

Ok you are NOT supposed to fly in the dark, and I don't make it a regular habit with my Mavic. I have only done it may be 4 times in the last year, and it has always been at low altitudes, below 100 AGL. I do however fly regularly at night with my Syma x5 and it is awesome. With all the navigation and indicator lights on you can get good orientation, and it is fun. I wouldn't do it as much with my Mavic though as I wouldn't want to lose $1000 in the dark even at low level. That Syma is cheap though and if it got lost it wouldn't be as bad of a pill to swallow as losing the Mavic.

You are allowed to fly in the dark in some countries - check your local rules. It is currently allowed in UK if you obey the other rules such as keeping visual contact. I have done a few night filming episodes with the Mavic and it is OK as long as you keep it close. Also make sure the red lights are set not to turn off when recording (in camera settings) as that helps you see it... you need to be in an area with quite a lot of artificial lighting or you can't see much on the camera - you have to crank all the settings right up. Manual focus is a good idea too as it struggles to autofocus.

I :( cry a lot. Get depressed. Spend more time on this forum then I should. Work on my other hobbies. Pray for spring and nicer weather. Try to get some of the thinks on my Honey-do list done (but, not making much progress there though). Just bought an E58 so I could play around inside.

Guess I have to know my surroundings to fly in the dark...

I recently bought a Hubsan X4 but it seems to not work properly so I had to send it back... my GF is happy thou, it made a lot of noise and she didn't like that ;)

Sex,boose,blow! jk ;)
haha that time is over, just moved in with my GF...

try one of these
STROBON Standalone - Flytron

and be aware with lower light vision assist landing will be affected

Too many people spread the false truths of not flying at night. It’s allowed in a lot of countries, get outside and try it. Why’d you buy a mav to let it sit on display for 9 months of winter or fly it? Just don’t be a idiot and take it slow, 2 months from know you’ll be a pro.
