I delayed buying my first drone for about 3 months because of things I read about DJI's customer service on the interweb. Fortunately I have a buddy who has a Mavic Pro and he kept showing me pictures and videos he was making and he finally convinced me and I held my breath and bought the Air soon after it came out. I was amazed at how well built it was. I spent a lot of time on this forum and was able to avoid 'runaway drone' and other problems. When the M2P came out I waited a bit and finally bought it and again was amazed at the quality and what a great bird it is.
All this time I am reading everything I can on this forum about the right way to fly and the pitfalls if you do not do things right. And all the while I am reading post after post of 'my drone flew into a tree for no reason!!' and "drone lost for no reason!" etc. And it has to be 99% of the time that when flight logs are provided it is operator error. Now think of all of the people who do not come here but go directly to DJI, if we use what happens for what happens at DJI 99% of their claims are bogus and those people are going to complain that DJI sucks. 99% is not a provable number of course but being in DJI customer service has to be a horrible job. FWIW I have never had to deal with them but I have a total different opinion after what I have seen here, compliments of sar104 and Meta4.

Well stated and I agree. Customer service is a place of patience when dealing with the public. I’ve been flying many DJI and non DJI drones for years with no issues. But like you, I do my homework on these forums. As much as I want to unbox and fly I make sure I’m prepared and can anticipate issues so I know how to deal with them. Obviously I enjoy instant gratification too, but I want to protect my hard earned purchase so due diligence is necessary.
