From my experience as a photographer (Drones are new to me), a suggestion...people are much more amenable to letting their land be "Photographed" than used for "a shoot", or in this case, "flying a drone". I would consider using the words, "Aerial Photography" rather than to say anything with "Drone" in it. Somehow that sounds more complimentary - like, "your land is so beautiful, I want to photograph it from a new perspective". Then offer the resultant footage (or one image) to them. You have a much better chance of getting their compliance, or at least, not being bothered.
At least I hope this is going to work...because I plan to take a lot of "aerial photographs" once the weather in NY comes around!
