Hi Everyone

I understand the RTH procedures, however my question is, if you flying from an elevated position (a mountain or hill, etc) and decend below your take off altitude, (let’s assume the RTH altitude is set at 100m), will the drone ascend 100m from its current height, or will it ascend to 100m from the altitude you took off from before starting the RTH?

Say you go down 100m and you have it set at 100m it will rise 200m before it starts back to you.

Oh good. I plan to take it to some mountains next summer and was concerned about running into trees during fail-safe. Of course it has obstacle avoidance.

Altitude on DJI drones is always expressed as height above the home point.

Actually, I thought that the altitude was always in relation to the take-off altitude. The home-point is not always a fixed position.

You are absolutely correct. I never move the home point, so for me it’s the same. But that is an important distinction.
