Hi all,

The mavic shows height relative to where you are, which is annoying but anyhow.. is the RTH height always relative to where set off point is?

If you were to fly down a hill to -20m and RTH was 60m would this mean it would fly to +80?

Another example for my monologue,

If you were to fly up a hill to 50m and RTH is 60m will this be added on or only the difference.

My worry is that if I fly up a hill and over, down beyond the tree line how does it work out its much vertical distance on returning.

Thanks and hope that makes sense,

Edward

The RTH altitude is always the height above the takeoff location (not the Mavic's current location). When RTH is initiated, the Mavic will ascend to the RTH altitude if the altitude currently displayed in DJI GO is below the RTH altitude. If the Mavic is already above the RTH altitude, it'll immediately start flying back to the home point at the current altitude.

If you were to fly down a hill to -20m and RTH was 60m would this mean it would fly to +80?
When the current altitude is a negative number in DJI GO, the Mavic will first ascend to 0 feet. Once at 0 feet, it'll climb to the RTH altitude.

If you were to fly up a hill to 50m and RTH is 60m will this be added on or only the difference.
The Mavic would ascend to 60 meters and then return home.

That's awesome thank you,

So if the object or land between the mavic and pilot is taller than the RTH height there may be a problem?

Yes. You should always set your RTH altitude to the tallest obstacle over top of the takeoff location. And make sure you add an extra 50 feet or so as a buffer since the current altitude displayed in DJI GO is just an estimate.
