Quick question have read the manual twice maybe overlooked it. If I set the RTH on my Mini and take off and then later return to home, and fly again from that spot do I have to set home again. Also if I change batteries do I have to reset home from that spot? Thank you for your help.

It sets the home point itself on [every] take off. It shouldn't matter where you take off from.

Every time you power down your drone it loses the recorded home point and every time you power up and it gets good GPS location data, it will record a new home point.
When you set an RTH height, that stays set but will be reset if you later update firmware.
