S. P. T. Mode switching during the flight

I just want to have some confidence and knowledge before I try it out at an open area.
My question is: Can I switching the slide switch among those 3 settings freely during the flight?
The next question is more technical: Do those setting basically limit the top speed, and enable or disable some obstacle avoidance capabilities?

Thank you sir. Have gone through the manual a couple of times. The first place I always go for answers before other resources.
