Sd card for mavic air

Now, that's somewhat misleading too. The majority of pilots can't possibly be filming footage in 1080P @ 120 FPS, so it's not as easy as you're attempting to make it out to be.

Regardless, it would be worth noting that 1080P @ 120 FPS won't record properly on a Class 10 memory card.

It's not misleading, it's a fact that you yourself verified. I am not attempting to make it out to be anything more than it is, I have been crystal clear in my posts. Also I don't think either of us can accurately guess how many people use 1080P/120, all I can say is I personally use it sometimes and I use 1080P/60 too - I don't think it's a good idea to ignore that capability when making recommendations.

I also don't think it's good advice to be recommending people only use class 10 cards for ~9MB/s write speeds (1080P/60) since that can fluctuate, and very few cards perform precisely to advertised specification, especially with writes - you are asking for dropped frames by cutting it that close for the sake of a few dollars. You want more headroom than that, especially since U3 cards are so cheap now they are practically disposable and there is no reason to be buying Class 10 / U1 / V10 cards for today's drones.

Class 10 memory cards are given that class since they are able to write at a minimum speed of 10 MB/s. Since the Mavic Air is not able to write data at 1080P/60 that exceeds that speed, it's quite fit for the job if one decides to use a Class 10 memory card. If you have test data that shows otherwise from your Mavic Air, then please post it here.

I'm not 100% up on this, but there seems to be a little more to it, in that even though class (10) and U1 cards are rated at 10MB/s, they are using a different Data Bus transfer/structure, with the class (10) cards (Speed Class) being optimised for situations where you are dropping a large amount of data in a short time e.g. an HD 'still' photograph ... Where U1 (UHS Speed Class) cards are designed to use a different data bus that is optimised for high-speed, continuous, real-time data streams e.g. video. You can get cards that are Speed Class (10) rated, and cards that are Speed Class (10) AND U1 rated. But it should not be assumed that a class (10) card and a U1 card are the same ...
