Sounds like a good plan. You never regret having that "spare" droneThumbswayup;)

Just wondering if maybe I should buy a second Mini 5 Pro for insurance except this time just get the basic drone with the phone controller and leave it in the box in case I crash my other one
Thought about it too but I would first wait until you are sure your 1st one is clear of any "encumbrances" and then you can re-order for the same guy and take advantage of the current discount which goes until end of the month.

Maybe wait until the supply of obese batteries is flushed out and replaced with the skinny ones that will make the Mini 5 Pro weight classification of sub 250g in the U.S. and Canada, neither of which countries have +/- 4% tolerance, like the EU.

Mine arrived today without any tariffs, but at a chunky 254g with each of my 4 new batteries, weighing in at 70g each. At least it doesn't broadcast RID, and I have plenty of those digital scales I invented that show 0g with a 4g weight placed on them! Just carry a photo showing 250g on the scale. LOL!

15% but it looks like it has ended early or out of stock: 102_store00 | eBay Stores
At this 102 store the deal is over, price is now $1395 plus $130 shipping for the Plus, up from $1185 plus $130 shipping. It was showing that it was 15% off through September. It may come back.
I see a Plus at DW Store for $1369 and the standard combo is $1469. I think they have them swapped.

Can't you buy a drone only.
I just got a spare Mini 4 (drone only) for that very reason.
not yet so it would have to be with the phone controller, I waited too long for the one store but another store is the pretty much the same price so I think I will do it. US Tariff free for $890 +$38 shipping, 102 store was at $845 + $80 shipping
My Mini 4 pro fly more will go up for sale after this one shows up
I was thinking of getting the fly more low end one for the extra two batteries but I do not really need them so basic it is.

Doing this mainly as crash insurance and maybe not being realistic, feeling the Min 5 Pro will more easily be damaged than my Mavic 4, buying an extra Mavic 4 is out at the moment

Also the Style 902 store has the Mini 5 fly more plus is $1454.20 +38>20 shipping tariff free right now

Why not get the DJI care refresh instead?

The discount is not back but the price has been lowered. Today, I'm seeing the following price for the Plus FMC:

Item (1)$1,245.00 + Shipping$130.00 = $1375

Where is this 102 store? I ‘d like to purchase an extra drone!

What are the import fees that must be paid to customs or the shipper? I see the $1245. Plus $130 ship, but this is at the top of the page:

"Due to US policies, import fees for this item will need to be paid to customs or the shipping carrier on delivery."

not sure which vendor that one is but some will say in their link that there will be no duty or tariff fee on their shipment to the buyer, all fee will be taken care of by the vendor. It is either in the ad title or in the description

Looks like tariffs and customs are an issue.

They have been since April and much worse since August 29th.
Tariffs are always an issue especially when they are in place for the wrong reasons
