Hi folks,

I'm new here and relatively new to drones. I use a MM with HDRPano 3D to created AEB panoramas but one thing I haven't really figured out is how to establish the initial exposure for the pano prior to starting the mission.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

John

@FlyBoyJohnny - Thanks your post I've just purchased yet another 3rd party app for the Mavic Mini and have to learn how to use it before I can help you. "hdrpano 3D" was just released for the mini and haven't found a manual or full video tutorial for it yet... It does some interesting stuff but can't test it right now due to rain.

If someone can post a link for a tutorial on the new hdrpano 3d app it would be much appreciated.

Can’t you just take-off and set it while hovering?

Yeah the documentation is available from the developer's site but its not the greatest. He's also got a couple YouTube videos that shows the app in use but he doesn't really go step by step, which would help me.

Yes I agree the documentation isn't the greatest. He may have a a great app but he needs help in showing all that is involved in using it. He has several app with multiple videos of the different versions and the are more like demos rather than guides how to use. He is speaking English like you should know what's going on and the apps being used are in German. It's very technical and confusing. He's a programmer, his forte isn't teaching and demonstrating his apps.

Here's what I've figured out so far after purchasing the app (iOS only) for $10. 1/ Shoot with the new "hdrpano 3D" app to the mini's card. It has a good interface with a variety of adjustable options. 2/ Then import the files to his app "xml-creator 2.1.4 on a Windows computer which makes a XML file from the EXIF info from all the pano images. 3/ You then import the XML file along with the images into a third program, a stitching program of your choice. I'm using a 2012 version of "PTGui".

After hours yesterday in trying to figure out what's needed and the above workflow, I rushed while before it got too dark and attempted to take a 360 pano with 3 exposures, I think they were .7 EV apart. I also think you you can take 5 AEB exposures. I guess I didn't have the base exposure properly set as the the darkest exposure of the 3 was probably better suited as the lightest. @FlyBoyJohnny - was that your experience too?

I tried again as a test shooting indoors and the 3 bracketed exposures were now correct but when the camera titled down the exposure's shutter bracketed speed went from say 1/4 second to 1/2000 second producing completely unusable images. I tried again with the same results. Shut everything down and went to bed.

Hope this long post helps others that want AEB panos and gives them a better idea of the workflow. I said it looks like a good app, once I figure it all out... I'll try to see where I went wrong later today and post the results.
