Great forum guys!
Just bought a MM and I'll admit Im too scared to fly it above 30m...does the nerves wear off ???

Ha ha, it took me 3 flights but when you finally trust what the little bird can do, you'll be blown away (not literally)! Just take note of weather/wind/interference/obstacles and you'll be a happy pilot ;)

Welcome to Mavic Pilots! :) Enjoy the forum!Thumbswayup

Hello from elsecar. Its powerful little bird i hope you gonna enjoy it
Just up the road !!

I never considered any drone until a few weeks ago I came across a you tube video about a certain Mavic Mini, initially my thoughts were it must be a fake vid, no way can a done that size do so many things and fly so far...so after a few weeks of reading ( and watching ) I was obsessed with it and ordered the combo.
Took it out to a big park and thought I could fly it away and bring it back but at the moment I'm too scared to let it go incase I lose it lol .

Hopefully get to bring it to Tenerife on my holiday too..;-)

@TM74 i think many of us when we get our first drone ,worry about losing it or crashing ,its only natural to feel that way, i did when i first flew my MPP, but gradually as your flying skills improve, and you get to realise how well the drone flies and responds to your stick inputs, then your confidence in your abilities and the drones will grow ,its better to be apprehensive and cautious than over confident ,that way your drone will last a lot longer, build your skills,at your own pace and dont worry what others can do and most of all enjoy

Welcome to Mavic Pilots .
I hope you will find our site helpful and look forward to any input , photo's/video's you might post .
Don't be shy and ask anything if you can't find it by searching
and stay safe.. Thumbswayup

Welcome. Best thing about intelligent Drones. When it gets hairy, just let go of the sticks and it will sit there patiently hovering in place waiting for you to get your act together. The mini is truly an amazing aircraft. As others have said take it easy at first, land with plenty of battery power left (doing this also means the batteries charge quicker). Don't go too high at first, the wind at 50ft can be 10mph faster than at ground level. Most importantly have fun, I love mine.

Hey TM74. I found less stress when in the open - way out in the open, like in the middle of a large field. For me it was a deserted soccer (football) field. Get comfortable and just fly like no one is watching.
The first few flights I never lost sight of my Mini, just wandered around the field. At some point I brought it back to myself, took a long, slow, deep breath and pushed the left stick forward, watching my prized possession lift up, higher and higher into the sky. I made sure to take some pictures, looking straight down as well as off in the distance, then came straight down, back to the landing pad. That first time, I went to 300 feet above the ground - a little under 100 meters. I didn't move forward, backward, left or right. Just up and down, landing the drone to end the "mission." After that, being high above the ground is less on my mind than things like signal strength, wind speed and the many other variables that come into play. Now, being LOW to the ground (or water) brings its own stress - for me, at least. I'm still learning and gaining the skill to fly safely and, gradually, with less concentration. It's becoming more natural and my videos are becoming less disjointed, more "cinematic." But I've got a long way to go.
I hope this long monograph helps. We all go thru a learning curve and a comfort curve. Hopefully we never stop learning and never get so comfortable that we lose the thrill of flight.
Happy flying

Welcome to our Forum, from Hauptmann in North Texas!

The quickest way to expand your "guts" envelope is to fly with more experienced people. When I started riding dirt bikes, I was a bit timid. Once I joined up with some better riders, I got better (and braver) in a hurry!

One caviat: The Mini doesn't handle wind as well as the beefier quads. So don't fly on windy days. It's OK if it's a little breezy, but it's best to fly INTO the wind.

Glad you've joined us!
