That's fine; when the government switches parties and the shoe is on the other foot, the other side will raise the same concerns only to be blocked and it flips back and forth; result in us Americans in the center getting spied on by our own government either way. Really sad because few years ago, this wasn't even a question. My guess is few years later, this will be the norm. When I was growing up, absolutely no way would our government absolutely spy on the citizens although I'm sure it was done covertly but no one would ever openly admit to it. Today, it is overt and encouraged and practically announced. Bring on the countermeasures.

In 2013 the US Government would not say whether Predators with ARGUS or Wide Area Persistent Stare had been deployed domestically. Apparently, now its common practice.

I guess I don't blame them for using the military equipment at home because there's no enemy in the world to use it against any more. They have to do what they are told by their leader else they might end up in jail, doesn't matter if it's 1940 or 2040, nothing has changed. It's just sad to see these organizations go out of business as quickly as they sprang up. It's just a matter of time before DHS gets reorganized and basically neutered because they abused their role over the last 20+ years and ICE, that organization is already gone; they just don't know it yet. They can have their "fun" for a few more years but they are basically over as a law enforcement organization, they literally put themselves out of business. Expect to hear the word "abolish" used a lot in the near future. By then, the fight will carry over to the states who are currently "in progress" when it comes to building their drone fleets and we'll have to do this all over again.

What really sticks in my craw with this is the blatant hypocrisy.

Two of the main lines of attack in the efforts to curb or curtail the use of privately owned camera drones revolve around:

a) breeding a climate of fear and paranoia about how they're being used by voyeuristic perverts to take pictures of your teenage daughter in her skimpies , and

b) whipping an already paranoid populace into a froth by insisting they're being used to spy on everyone and everything by the evil commies...

But, of course, because it's representatives of good old trustworthy Uncle Sam... you shouldn't worry because it's for your own good and they only look at the 'baad people'.
