Should I send my Mavic Back? Sphere Mode

I've made past posts concerning consistent over-exposure using the spherical mode in DJI 4 with my Mavic.

Others have commented that they have had similar issues.

In FPV mode, I have never had an issue with either video or photos being over-exposed using auto-exposure.

So I decided to do a quick test ... I need a 360 image for a presentation ... flew the first image using DJI4 and got consistent over-exposed images. Then flew the same flight with Litchi and got great images.

I decided to put in a ticket with DJI Support ... after a quick series of questions and answers, they asked me to upload some of the images to compare. The subsequent email claims there is "no bug" in the software causing the auto-exposure, and they don't recommend 3rd party apps, and they want me to return my unit for warranty repair.

I have serious doubts this will fix anything, and from what I have read, I'll be without my unit for an extended period. Since Litchi takes great images in 360 and others have found similar issues with the DJI 4 app, my assumption there is a problem that DJI just doesn't want to admit to.

Should I send me unit in? Has anyone done similar and found that their images exposure improved with DJI 4 spherical mode?

Like you said if Litchi takes great pictures, the problems not in your Mavic don't send it back. The problems in the firmware probably, or the DJI Go app

Thanks, that is my initial thought too ... concerned this will just be a waste of time.

I dont have Litchi, but I do know that exposure is set with DJI go 4 app. Maybe the camera sttings in Litchi are adjusted to your taste, and the camera settings in DJI go 4 are not? These are user adjustable features.

I've always used auto-exposure for both ... from my very limited experience, always thought 360 would be hard to set an exposure on, because of 30+ images taken in sequence automatically, and the impossibility of manually setting the exposure each time

Tried exposure compensation? Also try starting your pano form an angle that's about the brightest you'll get.

There's a reason you should take 360° shots with the sun as high as possible, large exposure differences are hard/impossible to account for.

I have ... the last set ( the ones I sent to DJI ) were done mid-day and with alot of overcast on purpose, to minimize shadows, direct sunlight

The results between the two apps is drastic ... the DJI4 version is so over-exposed that the mountains in the distance look like they have snow on them.

I could try RAW, compensate each picture post-process etc ... but should I have to?

Look at the results for yourself ... images taken within 5 minute of each other
