Smart Controller SD Card any value?

I understood the adding an SD card to the smart controller slot would enable high res recording of all image captures, while the recordings in the built in memory was for thumb nail reviews on the spot. I have tried it but nothing actually gets recorded on the SD card. Any advice appreciated

Not sure that is how it works, the SC card can be used to transfer images and updates and video stored in the cash.

You might take a look at the page I am attaching from "Smart Controller Version 1.8, manual." It may help, see IF you can download the Manual from DJI. Hope this helps.

From the manual, I gather it's mostly a backup since you end up with a copy on the controller and one on the SD in the aircraft. Kind of like my Nikon D2H which had two card slots. At least that's how I read it.
