At 6.30 in this video are mentioned 3 issues, one about compass calibration at every start, one about gimbal twitching in sport mode and one about the slowing down of the drone when you point the gimbal downward.
Did anyone else have noticed these?

I don't experience anything he mentioned, compass works really well. I suspect he has some interference...

Gimbal works like a champ in normal mode and very windy environment. in Sport mode when going sideways against the wind it might temporarily tilt, happened to me twice in really gusty wind, it was so gusty I was going 10km/h in full stick sideways sport mode, should not be flying in those winds. In normal mode, the gimbal is solid no movements at all.

When I point my gimbal downward it might not go 57.7km/h but it goes above 56km/h

The only thing I have noticed:
In 30-35 km/h winds when shooting panorama gimbal might get stuck and stop the pano shoot when shooting UP photo against the wind. Happened to me 5 times at list. Once you turn slightly so you are not directly against the wind it will compete it.

I made the experience that indoors (VPS only) the Mini 2 is not hovering that stable. It starts drifting even with good lights and a structured floor where the VPS sensors downwards should detect the movement. I really need to pay attention to avoid crashes against the walls or obstacles. I hope, further firmware updates will improve this. The Mini 1 at least up to now was really more reliable on VPS sensors without a GPS signal.

I haven’t had any of these issues. I’ve only had two flights as it MM2 only came yesterday, but it seems as capable a drone as any other I have had so far.

Definitely get the tilt of the gimbal in sport mode. Even if you try correcting the gimbal, it will tilt back down.

Haven’t had to calibrate compass yet.

It seems to me that DJI corrected the gimbal tilt problem with the Mavic Air 2 in the first upgrade. Someone will probably correct me on this.
I know that I've seen it once since then but also that it is bound to happen in high head wind situations.

Just watched Marcus Crawford you tube video at Snake River with Mini 2. He experienced the gimbal tilt and was somewhat flummoxed because he said that it was very calm with hardly a breeze. My question is:-
Having watched more than one video where flyers are surprised by this 'gimbal tilt', is it a fault or a design flaw when flying in Sport mode?

I've noticed for many who have issues with compass calibration at every start, they tend to be near metal objects despite the message telling them to stay clear of metal objects.

For example the roof of your car when you are getting ready to set up... is a metal object. That steel bench or picnic table... is a metal object. And so on.

I've had a few "calibrate compass" errors pop up already. I was out flying in my three usual spots and didn't any errors on my MM or my MA2! That kinda ticked me off.

But what really ticket me off was on my third flight with the MM2 I got a "gimbal error" the gimbal was stuck!
I did a few quick searches and think it was just a glitch or dust or dirt caught up in the gimbal. I shut the drone down, took the battery out, blew out the gimbal area, gently moved the gimbal around, seemed to free up, put the battery in, fired it up and all seems good but that's the first time on any on my drones I received a "gimbal" error/stuck gimbal.

Hoping this isn't a "real" issues and it was just some sand or something, I was landing/launching in a semi dusty area but have before and never had this pop up... Fingers crossed it was a one off!

From the user manual (page 11) :

And on Page 43, they actually do not recommend doing video or photos in Sports mode.

So the "issue" in that regard is probably not really an issue, but rather they haven't designed/built the system to operate as smoothly in sports mode as they even tell you it's only recommended to do capturing in Cine or Normal mode.

Good catch! You probably just saved a whole bunch of people from sending there drones back to Best Buy or DJI lol.

But seriously that's very helpful info, thanks for that! Sport mode videos = maybe, maybe not....

I'm the type who browses thru the manual real quick on a new toy. And when someone mentioned the video being weird in sports mode, I recalled that passage on page 43 (didn't know the exact page, just that sports wasn't recommended for video/photo)

I imagine if the gimbal is somewhere in the middle (not so close to level of straight down), you could likely get away with doing a high speed fly by on video. It seems like trying to do it with a straight down view doesn't give it enough room to move the gimbal for correction.

I wonder though if it would be more stable if you set the gimbal mode in FPV (ie: the leveling is aligned with the aircraft's level and not to the horizon), you just wouldn't get that horizontal level appearance during video.

FPV mode might work, I'll have to give that a try, makes sense, didn't really think of that. It would defiantly work with certain videos for sure.

In general I don't see it as a big issue, keep an eye on then winds, plan your shots/vids and after a lil trial & error it'll all come into play.

I like trying FPV mode for the days it's acts up and or the wind is affecting things.

Also if you're like me sometimes, you can shoot 4K for the intention of a 1080p output (such as doing a faux dolly zoom version of what the Mavic 2 Zoom does with actual optics/movement), you could likewise take the FPV-view version of the footage and stabilize it's roll axis in post, since the 4K-to-1080p cropping will give the extra screen to move around in.

I had almost 200km with my previous MM so when i now fly the Mini2 the differences are very obvious.
In sports mode it is true the gimbal can not follow well but who cares, seriously who in their right minds would take video in sports mode ...
Mini2 is so much better in all aspects , it is a pleasure flying it , I would not complain about something like that .
I have not experienced calibration issues either.

Thank you all for your inputs. I will just have to make sure that I study the appropriate manual if possible before purchase of drone/quadcopter.
I would have thought though that experienced flyers who review drones etc on their own youtube channels would bemore aware of issues like this one.

This is not a bug, rather a limitation of the tilt range of of the gimbal.

In sport mode throwing full forward stick, the initial tilt angle of the drone as it accelerates exceeds the gimbal's tilt range PLUS the extra margin necessary to ensure there is room to move for stabilization corrections. The gimbal rather "tops out". Then, after initial acceleration (which is quick, less than a second) the forward angle of the aircraft decreases during constant speed, and the gimbal now has enough upward margin to point straight ahead (or even up a little) with sufficient extra margin for stability.

The bottom line is, you can't get rid of the dislocation downward in the image when slamming into full forward from a hover. It will always have the sudden error downward. Only a more expensive gimbal with a greater tilt range can make that work.

--OR--

Accelerate to speed more gradually in sport mode. You can produce a smooth video, without the tilt error, by getting to speed more gradually. You'll still go as fast, just take a bit longer to get up to speed.

BTW, the MA1 has this same problem.
