Yesterday I took off from my back yard about 6' away from the side of my house; the front of the MPP was facing the outside wall. The MPP detected the wall as an obstacle, which I expected. What I didn't expect, however, was not being able to go up due to an obstacle in front. In order to ascend I had to rotate the MPP to face away from the wall so it no longer saw an obstacle.

Can anyone explain the logic behind this behavior?

Ok "Lucy",

I try to 'splain as best I can:

When the Mavic senses an object in front triggering the OAS, it kind of freezes the bird until it "thinks" it's safe to proceed. i.e. a wall in front of it. Now apply the same thing to a tree. You will have overhanging objects with a tree, and I believe it's coded to stay @ current alt. until the AC senses it's "safe" to move.

O.k., back the The Copa Cabana.....
