Flying to South Carolina (Greenville) for job interview . Taking family and thinking about taking drone. After 2 days in Greenville, we will drive up to Asheville for 2 days. Anything specific I should try and hit up to fly?
Thanks in advance
Mike

Spartanburg has a really cool water tower that looks like a giant peach

Have seen that peach for years going home to NC and would love to POI it. When in Asheville you need to hit @BigAl07 up as he lives close and he can give you some tips .

Lots of cool places all around just avoid the Blue Ridge Parkway or any NPS land.

In just a couple weeks the colors are going to be OMG amazing.

I live just north of Asheville.

So there's the Blue Ridge Parkway... off limits. Great Smokey Mts... off limits. Well the Appalachian trail... off limits. Well there are lots of state parks... whoops off limits too. As of 2014, NC has banned all takeoffs and landings without permission. Actually true, but I'm just being pessimistic.

On the brighter side, WNC has some beautiful places, and the National Forests are fair game. Lots of rivers, waterfalls, lakes and countryside. I've actually never had any problems here and have shot regularly for several years now. Even in downtown Asheville, I've never been approached, although I keep it chill, and avoid people and traffic flyovers. Wouldn't attempt the Biltmore without permission, however.

No one is enforcing the takeoff and landing thing here... yet.

They are enforcing it on the ParkWay. I can point you to two different sUAS operators who were escorted down off BRP or risk fines and more. One up near Pisgah Inn and one at Devil’s Courthouse.

Biltmore House Estate is so vast you’d have a hard time finding nonBiltmore property close enough to fly from. They have a firm no Take-Off/Landing from their property policy unless you’re lucky enough to shoot for them. [emoji16]

Yeah, I was referring to takeoff and landing generally, not on NPS land.

The state basically made it illegal to fly from any property without permission, but I’ve not seen anyone questioned for flying from the state roadside.

As for the Parkway, there is plenty of National forest land adjacent to it, but you really need to know the layout, and be familiar with the access routes. It probably wouldn’t be practical for a casual visitor to waste their time with that.

I guess I’ll leave it at home/
Honestly concerned since I might have an option to move there.

Again, not as bad as I might have made it out to be. There are plenty of places to shoot, and I’ve been here shooting for years now with no problems. Just be smart.
If you have any specific questions, you can message me.
