Bit of random South Aussie scenery over a weekend or so, excuse the music, a few whiskeys down it sounded like a good idea when I uploaded it and Youtube suggested it.

Hi mate, yeah this was at the Bugle Ranges, same old rigs, they were running some sort of trip with a few rigs from Mount Barker to therte.

Some nice spots but gee you can see the dry hills, hopefully the winter rain will green it up again soon.

Ah, the old salt pans then, the salt content gives the pink hue pretty sure (like Lochiel salt pan lake).
Initially wondered where the red algae was, those algal bloom pink lakes are quite nice from the air.

Yeah they were nice and full a few weeks back.
I go past the one at Lochiel every 5 or 6 weeks when I visit my mum at Port Augusta, it's been bone dry for ages.

It's been heartbreaking reading about the fires. Have you been plagued with mice, too?

We aren't too affected here in SA, about normal I suppose.
Outback NSW has the highest plague numbers, as shown on this map from a news report about a week ago . . .

Hopefully the numbers will diminish soon, they apparently drop very fast.
From the same news article, info from the CSIRO (our peak scientific body) . . .

"Mouse numbers crash when numbers are so high that disease is spreading (and) they're running out of food."
"They start to turn on themselves and they eat the sick and weak ones - they also start to turn on the babies - and then at that point the population crashes away almost overnight."

The old dear was saying her friends up in the southern Flinders have been copping them. Hopefully it all runs out soon

Yeah the fires have been full on over the last few years.
Mice aren't too bad down here, my mum reckons her friends are copping a few in the Flinders Ranges.
