Hi all.

I recently upgraded from my mini 2, so am planning on giving my mini 2 to my 13 year old son.
He lives in Spain just outside of Barcelona, which is in a FRZ, but the next town along is out of it, so will be fine to fly according to drone assist.

What requirements will he have there? Such as operator id, liability insurance, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Do NOT use Drone Assist outside the UK. Its not designed for it and is not accurate.

Always use the official site. In this case ENAIRE Drones

Spain is very restrictive in where you can fly and privacy rules on top.

An EASA ID is also required.

But really, Drone Assist should not be used outside the UK.

Am I right in thinking I can fly here but with a maximum height of 60m?

Yes, but always check again before the flight in case of NOTAMs. Also, as the last message in enaire always says (that is always there no matter where you click on the map), you can’t fly in urban zones unless you request a specific permit. 150 meters of more from the urban zone is Ok.

Requirements from a C0 like the mini would be operator registration and write the operator code on the drone (or a sticker). Insurance is not needed for a C0.

Why not let your son in Spain figure that all out on his own? He's in a far better position to find out accurately. No risk of misinforming him, either!

Thank you very much.

that’s what I ended up doing. He’s trying to sort it himself now.
