Flying to France with Ryanair, and have explosion proof cases for the batteries. Will carry everything in cabin bag. Is this still OK?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but things change so fast these days.

We did a Europe trip this summer, flying into Paris via Air France. I took my Mavic Air with 4 batteries. I packed my gear in a backpack with my camera gear. No issues with customs going into or out of France/New York. I didn’t use any battery storage bags, just made sure they were discharged. No one ever checked or asked about their status.

I thought I remembered reading that France was making changes to their drone laws as of July 2018. The pilot has to be certified. Not sure if it was all drones or commercial drones.
I went to France in May, no problem taking my mavic in carry on, and I flew it on several occasions while there, a beautiful country.
