Surprised there has not been any mention of this...or did I miss it?

It's in another thread or two.

They are increasing in number also. I now have 2 near me, including one over my parents house.

The Wall Street Journal published an article Oct. 12, 2024 entitled "Mystery Drones Swarmed a U.S. Military Base for 17 Days. The Pentagon is Stumped.” We are talking about Langley AFB in Virginia. Close to multiple sensitive government and military installations including FBI, CIA, Navy, and SEAL TEAM SIX. The WSJ interviewed General Mark D. Kelly who personally witnessed a fleet of drones the size of SUVs flying over and around Langley between 6:00 pm and midnight for 17 days straight in December 2023. He said they never could figure out where the drones came from and had no authority to shoot them down. After 17 days, they just stopped coming. Another AF General (former NORAD Commander) was also interviewed. Same guy who was in charge of handling the "weather balloon." He said when he heard about it he recommended scrambling interceptors. But no one did anything.

Ret. Gen. Mark D. Kelly (former F-15 Strike Eagle pilot) told the WSJ that he witnessed but could not stop fleets of unidentified drones as big as SUVs flying nightly over Langley AFB in Virginia for 17 days straight.

This is a new round, just started on Sunday this week

This whole New Jersey thing reminds me of Twilight Zone Season 3, Episode 3.
A dinner party for Bill Stockton's birthday is interrupted by a bulletin warning of an impending nuclear attack. As the neighbors scramble to prepare, they turn against the Stockton's, the only family that installed a bomb shelter.

I'll watch this!

What do they hope to achieve by this?
Prior to these NOTAMS it was completely legal to fly drones in these areas, but for what reason is it now forbidden?
If the drones are from Iran, China or the planet Thoozbane, NOTAMS won't stop them.
If the sightings are actually regular aircraft, it won't make any difference.
If they are just regular citizens who were legally flying, what's the point of stopping them in just those areas?
It's difficult to see any intelligent thought process in this, just more paranoia and mass hysteria.

The politicians most likely pressured the FAA to do something so they could say, "Look what we accomplished!"

That was all in response to the big drone sighting thing which was actually just BS. It's too bad somebody starts that stuff and then the media hypes it up. Every picture I saw on the news you could easily see it was an airplane or helo. Any drones up there were properly lighted and flying legally.

Here's the thing.
In the world, there are problems. Someone(s) steps up and says "this is a problem" and people pay attention to that person. And sometimes the problem is solved. Or at least it's tried to be solved.
Then there's someone who needs attention, so they want to get in on the problem attention and do things to address the problem as well. Then there's no more problem but people still want the attention so, guess what, they come up with solutions to the non existent problem. And finally a "Karen" gets involved and wants to take the problem solving to a hyperbolic level.

It's sort of how we got from true workplace sexual harassment to not being able to say "Wow, that's a nice dress".

I'm not looking to begin another discussion on the matter...just letting guys in NJ know that a whole new round has started, expanding the area and that they should exercise caution to avoid problems..

That's your opinion.

At the same time apparently some generals claim to have witnessed what is indisputable not mistaken ordinary aircraft, and have claimed unusual, coordinated drone activity over Langley AFB, an NFZ.

I'm not asserting there is anything other than ordinary aircraft. I don't know. But I'm not willing to dismiss these officials as complete morons as you seem to be... hence my curiosity and open mind.

Well bless your heart, I'm sure they appreciate that.

TFR’s around NJ (including near my home) are to remove one source of possible misidentification. As it turns out, since the initial tfr’s were enacted, “sightings” have been considerably reduced (coincidence or not). FWIW, I was seeing “things” flying over my neighborhood, which I am inclined to believe were not planes or heli’s, almost nightly. Not any since 12/22.

I can fully understand skepticism on this whole thing. Not everyone who may have seen a drone even reports it. Many see something with their own eyes, then take a video which cannot get an image of what they actually saw since they are videoing or photographing a light/lights in the dark sky that washes out everything on the UAP.

My personal experience: Someone north of me called and said to look north at the lights over a small town. I saw them. They were south of him and north of me. They were bright and had a constant light and flashing lights. They were low. They did not line up with anything on Flight Radar 24. They moved back and forth for over an hour.

The next day someone who lived in that town told me he let his dog out, heard a drone, looked up and saw a VTOL like drone, half the size of a car as it went by the moon. He said it was low, around 200 fet up. I thought it was funny since he is in a 300 ft LAANC grid. At least it was flying legally if it had a LAANC (Joke) or if it had a COA allowing operations in controlled airspace up to the LAANC grid height.

I never saw those lights again like that and I looked every night for weeks.

But there are sightings by various people and entities that have not been dismissed.
The NJSP helicopter chased one and had it turn its lights off while it was somewhat close.
The USCG members who had their report dismissed as aircraft going into Newark or JFK had a pretty funny response to them being labeled as stupid.

During the whole thing I also saw "normal" drones flying at night on several occasions. I saw plenty of helicopters not transmitting on ADS-B, I saw to my astonishment that the 640 thermal on my drone could see the heat of manned aviation at ranges I thought it would not be able to.

My point is, just because you cannot find the information on the internet to satisfy your justified disbelief, does not mean that there were not some flat out wierd things going in the NJ air space for 2 weeks.

The only good thing that happened for our public safety drone program is to get focus back on it, so hopefully we can get some more funding. Also it is a good teaching point to our RPIC's to always check for TFRs and NOTAMS every time you fly and not just say, we are not in controlled air space in our Area of Operations so we are always good to go.

Why would anyone flying drones for nefarious reasons have bright lights flashing at night. Not very effective in being covert.

Very effective if the nefarious reason is to test our defensive response.
