New to drones in general. Been a fixed wing pilot since 81. I have done a search for the answer to my question but didn't find anything specific to the M2 Pro. I did find where someone said that it was ok to switch modes in flight on a Mavic Pro but as I said nothing specific to the M2 Pro.

While I'm asking questions, will changing the camera settings help me see what's on the monitor better when flying in low light situations. Case in point, I was flying around in a field late in the evening a couple days ago. The sun was close to setting but had not quiet gone beyond the horizon. The shadows were long and light was beginning to fade. It was very difficult to see on the monitor in the shaded areas of the field but once I went up in altitude and got out of the shadows I could see fine again. I guess I could compare it to using a cheap rifle scope where the amount of light is way better with the necked eye vs looking through the scope. What can I change to make it better?

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration!

Sure you can change modes when flying. Most people pause thier flight and switch to another mode. You dont necessarily have to pause , but holding right stick forward and using a portion of your right hand to flip the side switch might be challenging.

Yes you can bring your exposure value up using the 5 D Button on the remote controller and that will brighten up dark areas while flying into shadows or dark areas. You should be doing this anyway combine with your aperture settings if taking video (the aperture thumb wheel is on the right side of the remote controller.

Thanks for the quick reply and for the info. As for "taking video" I'm just concentrating on learning to fly the thing and watch the monitor (iphone) display. I bought the RE goggles with it but haven't been brave enough to put them on yet. Maybe in a few days I'll try it while in that big open field. Having a blast so far but still on a STEEP learning curve. I've been watching youtube videos every chance I get on anything to do with the M2 Pro trying to learn everything I can but it's a lot of information to take it all at once!

Thats a great approach! I commend you for taking a measured approach. Do practice drills . Always point the drone away from you when taking off - Why? Its easy to confuse right with left and left with right if the drone is pointed towards you when taking off. Always observe what is above your take off point. Its easy to clip a tree branch if there is one near you. Or a structure , etc.

Then try and fly circles while slowly rotating the drone. Not herky jerky movements. I would suggest slowing down the control stick inputs so that a large stick input does not equal a large drone yaw or pan. Cinematic shots are not whipping the drone around in mid air. They are super slow barely perceptible changes in movement and perspective. Here is a YouTube Video that shows you how to tweak the sensitivity settings for smoother motion.

Wide open space for Goggles ! Great idea! Master the basics before flying in tight confined areas. Be careful with the head tracking.

I recently flew at a spot in Lake Tahoe where there was another Mavic flyer. He was just slowly going up and down while watching his monitor and not going out over the Lake. I knew that he was trying out his flight skills and was wary about flying out over the Lake.
I jump out and fire up my Mavic , Controller, Tablet and was in the air and then full Sport Mode out over the Lake. He looked over at me and I could see in his eyes he wanted to ask questions , but not bother me when flying.

What he did not know was that I was flying out to my first waypoint quickly so I could start a Lichti Mission that is completely automated. So after I started the Mission I just set the controller down on a Rock and walked back to my truck and his mouth dropped open. LOL. Mavic came flying back on its course to the last waypoint right in front of us about 12 minutes later. I (the Automated Mission) was capturing snaps every 2 seconds for a hyperlapse along the waypoint mission.

During this time another guy landed his Mavic right near us and said " I did not know this was the Mavic Fly spot" 3 Mavics flying in the same area for landscape footage is super rare in my experience.
