I know this problem has been mentioned/discussed in various posts and different answers and explanations have been suggested. But I can't seem to find any post which has offered a definitive solution.
Lately, I have had the Go4 app on my tablet (Huawei) disconnecting from the RC while flying in different places. It happens one time in five flights and the first time, I was really scared as I was flying over a town area. Suddenly, the display on the screen froze and real-time information also stopped. At first I didn't know what to do and feared that the drone would hover until it ran out of battery and came down. It might have RTH automatically or landed on low battery condition but I have never experienced that so I don't know what will happen.
Anyway, I peeked at the RC and saw that the screen on it seemed to still be active and I realised that it must be the connection to the tablet/app which was gone. I pressed the RTH button on the RC and heard a beeping which sounded like the usual RTH sound and was hopeful that it was coming back (it wasn't far away because I don't dare wander too far). The little screen was a life-saver and told me that the drone was coming back and I checked to see if it was high enough so that I didn't have to worry about it hitting something. Then I tried to reconnect by pulling out the cable - didn't work - and then going backwards all the way to restarting Go4, enabling access via USB and was relieved to see the GO FLY message on the screen again. By then, the drone had reached overhead and so I was able to control it again and bring it down.
I thought it might be a cable issue as I was using a new cable that I bought which is shorter. It's an expensive one with gold-plated connectors. So today, I used an older cable (a Sony) which never had such problems and hoped that it would be okay. After a first uneventful flight, I thought it must have been a cable problem but then on the second flight, same thing happened. This time at least, I was less panicky and stayed calm and hit the RTH to bring the drone back first. Then I tried the same reconnect procedure and it worked again.
The thing about such problems is that they are random. I try to isolate the cause. What did I change lately? Cable. OK, use back the old one. Problem still occurs. Location interference - not likely since this is about the tablet to the RC, not RC to aircraft which seemed stable enough.
Anyone can comment and suggest what I could try to get rid of this disturbing issue?
