Tariff charging is getting worse

Of course the tariff project is getting worse. Did anyone really expect it to get better? Talking about it won't make it go away.

Getting pretty far off in the weeds here.

Your headline:
“Tariff charging is getting worse”
Chicken Little:
“The sky is falling”
Neither of you have any proof

That piece you posted says some lady had to pay fees that were much higher than I paid relative to the purchase price before her goods would be delivered. As another user has already said, for all we know, she may have actually gotten ripped off. We have no way of knowing what actually happened.

I received my drone in 2 days, which is faster than Amazon in many cases. I didn’t have to pay the $80 dues taxes and fees until weeks later delivery. That actually happened, and I’m just trying to let others know.

If that article is scaring you out of buying a drone then you shouldn’t buy it.
Again you're citing your experience as the likely outcome for all experience.Lots of people do some critical thinking when laying out that kind of money.Check the forum to see others' experiences.

I always use the YMMV disclaimer to warn users that Your Milage May Vary. So I'm actually doing just the opposite. I'm simply providing an accurate accounting of what happened to me when I took a shot at it. As others have said it's a constantly changing situation, and is always going to be a gamble.

Personally if I were going to buy another one I would not hesitate to use the same eBay seller again. The service and constant communication was beyond what I usually see, even from vendors here in the US. Whatever you decide to do, I hope it works out for you. Please let us know how it goes if you decide to buy one, especially if you use the same seller I did.

So your example and the article's story cancel each other out. Thanks for the clarification.

Not at all. My documented purchase of a drone on eBay has infinitely more relevance to someone wanting to buy a drone on eBay than some random story with no documentation about someone who allegedly bought a coat online. Any third grader could see that.

I am missing something...how is your experience different?...I know you can't fly a coat, and you cannot wear a drone...but you both paid the tax, tariff, duty...whatever you want to call it...I despise the Times, but I don't think they get any thing out of making stuff like this up...I believe this really happened and the times ran the story to throw some negative attention on the administration.

The Times and all reputable news sources have plenty of negative true stories to write about this administration. When do I get my $2000 check for the tariffs that help raise prices?

Just curious as a "student"of journalism what news sources do you trust?

That's not going to happen. You, as the consumer, did not pay the tariffs. It was passed to you, but the company that imported the goods paid the tariffs, Those companies have the receipts and can show how much they paid.

But but he promised me.Like Santa Claus,it appears to have been a lie:(

Not a question of whom I trust or not...just asking why @dmiles119 made statement like that ( he had a different experience)..when it was actually the same...they both paid the tariff....that guy has been back since I asked and he isn't answering...so I wonder if @dmiles119 is just trying to make an issue of nothing....No one likes it.....but everyone, including him pays...unless I have it wrong

  1. Nonpartisan analyses from organizations like the Tax Foundation and the Budget Lab at Yale indicate the estimated cost of the dividend plan (between $450 billion and $600 billion annually) exceeds the actual revenue generated by the tariffs, which is projected to be around $200 billion to $300 billion annually.
  2. The proposal would likely require approval from Congress, and several Republican lawmakers have expressed skepticism or opposition, preferring to use the tariff revenue for debt reduction instead.
  3. Trump has also said that the money generated from tariffs could be used to eliminate the federal income tax. Federal income tax brings in 14x the amount collected by tariffs.
  4. The Supreme Court is currently reviewing the legality of a large portion of Trump's tariffs, and an unfavorable ruling could eliminate much of the projected revenue stream.
