I recently had to replace my cooling fan and camera/gimbal one my MPP because of my own stupidity and the malevolence of a poplar tree. When you remove the bottom cover there is thermal paste on some of the components connecting them to the heat sink one the bottom of the AC. Also, when you remove the ribbon cable connections to replace the camera there is soft rubber holding the connectors in place. Does anyone know if this rubber sealant is functional or if it's just there so the factory can tell if anyone has serviced the drone, also, has anyone completed repairs and had overheating problems because of the disturbance of the thermal paste?

If you can replace the heat sink compound, it would be best. But as long as it isn't contaminated, you probably can leave it.
The "rubber" you speak of is probably a type of latex caulking. It's there to make sure the wires/connectors don't vibrate loose.

Thanks. Do you think it's something like Loc-tite?

I've replaced my gimbal and have flown hundreds of flights without replacing the "holding goop" on the connectors. No problems with wires coming loose. I suppose it could happen, but the consequences of losing the camera during a flight is not a catastrophic failure that would prevent landing.

if you are really worried you could use a hot glue gun to put a small blob on the connectors, the stuff thats on there is actually silicone sealant and is very easy to come by

Thanks for the tip. It's flying just fine right now. I'd be more worried about gunking it up with hot glue or silicone at this point. As far as the thermal paste goes, It hasn't overheated yet but it's also been in the 60s or 70s since I repaired it. When it warms up in the summer I'll keep a close eye on it.

no worries the paste is there to transfer heat to the large heat sink at the bottom of the mav if you do find you have issues you could just put a very thin film over the existing paste then when you put it back on it will make a good contact with the heat sink and will bond to it when it sets

They do make a "low temp" hot glue gun that doesn't get really hot

I'm more worried about my sloppy work than the temp of the glue. ?
Sounds like theres no worries here, fly, fly fly, enjoy your bird and keep it safe... your good to go...
