Another option for tracking is an audible alarm. Something like the DroneKeeper micro, that has a motion sensor, so will not sound during flying, but if the drone stops moving (i.e. crash!), then after a period of time (adjustable 30 seconds, 1 minute, etc up to 8 minutes) the alarm will sound, helping to locate the drone. The device weights about 6g including a battery. And if the drone gets stuck in a tree, and is still moving (i.e. branches swaying in the wind), then there is a backup feature where the alarm will still sound after another interval of 20, 40, or 60 minutes...
Find my drone will probably be the first option, but if the drone is in a a tree, bushes or a ditch, then being able to use your ears to help find the drone, when you get close, may be a time saver..! The device can be ordered with an optional switch, that allow you to select the different intervals. The DroneKeeper micro can operate on disposable 1.5v button batteries or rechargeable 3.6v button batteries. They also offer a recharging device (for an additional charge) so you can use recharge the 3.6v batteries.
