Trouble Connecting iPad Mini 4 to RC by wire

I recently have been unable to connect my iPad mini 4 to my RC controller by wire. This was never
a problem until now. I know I'm missing something and thought I would find it by now. Any ideas? I did the recent software upgrade to my Mavic Air but that shouldn't have made a difference.

Which port are you using on the RC....and is the other one completely disconnected?

I'm using the side port with the micro adapter. The other port is empty

Just switched to the USB port and it connected just fine. Thanks!

Those side ports seem to be trouble, probably related to the odd plug used on that side of the cable. I switched to the bottom USB port and I've been golden for months. Also, remember that if you have something plugged into the side port, the bottom port won't function.

Just wondering if the Side Micro port is specifically for phones and not meant to be used with a larger device, although I've never read anything supporting that.

Cords that come with it aren't that good, use a new cord in side port it'll work.

You can connect any compatible device to the side port.
