Trouble with update to Fly app version 1.18 (or newer)

I have a Mini 3 (not Pro) and RC controller purchased in 12/25. Is there a reason I can't update from version 1.13 to 1.18 or newer?
When I check for updates get notice that version is correct.

Is there something in the fly app that you really need or can’t do without? If not, don’t bother. It will probably just introduce extra restrictions on how you fly your drone anyway!

I was hoping to get the C1 button to function when launching.
