Great example of why a landing pad with weights instead of stakes comes in very handy.

I caught the gist of the post. There are many places I go that you cannot not pound a stake into the ground with any efficiency.

Yessir. And more often than not there is wind, at least when and where I fly/live.

I've never staked down my pad. Never been in a situation where it was necessary, but then again I don't fly when it's really windy.

Watch; when I go out later today the thing will take off like a kite :)

I hate the stakes. 1st, it is often hard to get them into the ground. If hard going in, then it can be hard getting them out as well. Also, unless you can get the stakes in the round deep enough, I find they can stick out of the ground and there is not really a lot of clearance for the props (on a Mavic 2 anyway, and seems true on the mini and Air 2 as well).

You photo was helpful since it have me the idea that I could attached some extra weights on some longer extension cords.
