Thats (i) not what their repair FAQ says, (ii) what their online chat support says and (iii) what several people on the main DJI forum have found who have had batteries replaced and simply had to send photos,serials or videos as proof.
So given their FAQ says dont send, gives alternatives of how to initiate a request and other people have been supplied with new batteries its worth a try...
